Czech Republic Legal Alert: End of mandatory testing from 18 February 2022

End of employee testing

Mandatory workplace testing of employees will end on 18 February 2022 (the last day of testing).

Until 18 February 2022, all employers are required to continue mandatory testing of employees twice a week under the current rules listed HERE.

Please note that as of 31 January 2022, there is a new exemption from testing for an employee who has had COVID-19 and is past the period of ordered isolation – they do not need to be tested for the following 30 days following a positive RT-PCR test.

Responsibilities after the end of testing

Employers are required to keep a record of the tests performed for the following 90 days for auditing purposes, including: the date of testing, the names of the individuals who took the test on that date, including their date of birth, insurance number, and the name of the health insurance company.

Options for further employee testing

Even after the end of mandatory workplace testing, employers can continue testing based on risk assessments and their own health and safety measures.

Employers must properly assess all risks and adequately justify and regulate such measures in internal regulations or guidelines relating to health and safety in the workplace.
