Czech government makes its citizens’ lives easier with new e-services portal

NAKIT, the Czech Republic’s national agency for communication and information technologies, is a strategic partner of the Czech state that designs innovative solutions in the areas of cybersecurity and specific aspects of network, application, and cloud infrastructure. To facilitate access to more than 80 government e-services, it unveiled a new national online citizen’s portal in June 2018—a major milestone in the digitization of public services in the country. Within a year, the agency architected and implemented the system in the cloud, using a range of Microsoft Azure services, including Azure DevOps and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).

Schrems II judgment: Privacy Shield invalid, SCCs survive, but... what happens now?

On 16th July 2020, the CJEU delivered its judgment in the "Schrems 2" case [1].  Most organisations rely on data transfer agreements - Standard Contractual Clauses – to transfer personal data to countries outside the EEA.  Organisations which transfer personal data to the US can also often rely on the EU-US Privacy Shield. The CJEU was asked to consider if law and practice in the US relating to access to personal data by the intelligence services should mean that either, or both – of these mechanisms should be invalidated.

Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs: Educational Institute for Responsible Public Procurement to open in September

The Institute of Responsible Public Procurement brings a comprehensive educational system to public procurement specialists who want to acquire comprehensive knowledge in the field. From September, a series of seminars will be launched, after which participants will receive a certificate and at the same time will have the opportunity to sign up for other specialized courses. Contracting authorities can thus use the Institute to develop the competencies of their customers, internal customers from specialist departments and other strategic purchasing specialists.
