A governmental amendment to the Penal Code

A governmental amendment to the Penal Code will pass through the third reading during the session starting on January 26. Based on foreign experience (mainly Anglo-Saxon countries), it introduces a bargain procedure on guilt and punishment. A prosecutor would be entitled to conclude an agreement on guilt and punishment with the person accused of a crime. The agreement then has to be approved by a court. This agreement will be admissible for crimes that are subject to a statutory maximum penalty of five years. For more information click here.
