Chamber of Deputies: Bill on Public Beneficial Effect passed

On 8 August, the Chamber of Deputies passed the Bill on Public Beneficial Effect (zákon o veřejné prospěšnosti) in the third reading that had been proposed by the Ministry of Justice. The Bill implements the concept of public beneficial effect. The concept should enable to grant designated associations the status of publicly beneficial associations. The status may lead to tax reliefs, indirect public promotion. The Bill enumerates activities that an association may practice in order to get the status of a public beneficial association. The Bill also stipulates an internal structure of such associations (regarding managerial transparency).

During the discussion in the Chamber of Deputies, amendments were raised. According to one of them, trade unions could be promoted as an association that may be granted the status.

The Bill is heading to the Senate.
