The European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS), which is responsible for advisory to the EC, EP and the Council on proposals with an impact on data protection published a 2013 work programme in the field of legislative consultation. The work programme includes also a strategic planning document, the Inventory, which identifies issues of strategic importance, such as visibility, efficiency and relevance of data protection.

The key areas of EDPS consultation in 2013 include a new EU data protection framework, which is one of the largest legislative dossiers in recent years, technological developments and the Digital Agenda, financial sector reform and eHealth programme.
