EIB increases support for energy efficiency and green energy projects in the Czech Republic

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has granted two intermediated loans combined with EU grant subsidies to support energy efficiency and renewable energy projects promoted by SMEs and Mid-Cap companies in the Czech Republic. Both loans were extended to major banking institutions - €100 million loan to Raiffeisenbank a.s. and €50 million loan to Česká Spořitelna a.s.

The loans have been launched in the framework of the Green Initiative and are expected to support energy efficiency projects and renewable generation projects undertaken prevailingly by SME and Mid-Cap companies. The Czech Republic is not the only one country involved, so far seven banks in five countries have benefited from similar programmes – Croatia, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia.
