Eurobarometer: EU elections made a difference

On 25 July, the Commission published the results of the Spring 2014 Standard Eurobarometer. The survey took place after the EU elections. Its results show, that the elections´ slogan “This time it´s different” was quite right. The number of EU citizens, who feel that their voice counts in the EU, has risen from 29% in November last year to 42%. Additionally, 65% of the Europeans feel as EU citizens, compared to 59% in the Fall last year. Also, more EU citizens generally expect improving economic situation in the following 12 months. Support for the euro is also growing.

The survey was made between 31 May and 14 June and a total of almost 33 thousand citizens were interviewed across EU member and candidate countries.
