G-8 Summit in Camp David

The leaders of Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Russia joined President Obama at Camp David for the annual G8 Summit to address major global economic, political, and security challenges, including energy and climate change, food security and nutrition, Afghanistan’s economic transition and transitions taking place across the Middle East and North Africa.
Despite many topics discussed, the summit was being dominated by the Euro area crisis and situation in Greece. The leaders´ fear that the Euro area debt crisis could trigger a global slump. The leaders declared a common interest in Greece remaining part of the euro area. Yet on Sunday, the European leaders are attending a two-day NATO summit in Chicago, with a focus on the Afghanistan war.
