Government: Party funding to be discussed

The Government has set the term of the discussion of the Bill on Party Funding on 9 January. The Bill regulates the process of the party funding. The Bill amends the current Act on Political Parties. According to the Bill, the party campaign should be funded through open-access bank accounts (the so called transparent bank account); the campaign funding should be accessible publicly. According to the Bill, the party funding should be supervised by the Office which is to be set up. The Council of the Office of Party Funding Supervision should consist of 11 members, the chair included. The Council of the Office should be appointed by the President of the Republic on the proposal of the Senate. The aim of the appointment process is to set an independent procedure that is not affected by the current political composition of the Chamber of Deputies.
