Mobile roaming prices to be cut from 1 July

A new deal has been negotiated by the European Parliament and the Council on the prices of mobile roaming services, including data services. The new rules will be adopted by the Council of Ministers in June and the proposal will enter into force on 1 July 2012. The implementation of cuts is projected until 2014 and will expire by 30 June 2016.
From 1 July 2012, customers will pay a maximum of 29 cents for the phone calls made and only 8 cents for the received ones. The ceiling of 70 cents per megabyte set for the data services should drop to 20 cents per megabyte until July 2014. The new rules will also enable customers to buy roaming services from an operator other than their national operator.
