New Government appointed - work on policy statement in progress

On 29 January, the President Miloš Zeman appointed a new Government of the Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka (for inauguration of respective ministers, click a press release). On 29 January, the Government held its first meeting. At that meeting, the Government approved the setting up of a coalitional working group that should prepare the Governmental policy statement. The Chamber of Deputies is supposed to approve the policy statement by the motion of vote of confidence (supposedly by 18 February). The Ministers (representatives of coalitional parties) announced that they would strive for promotion of economic growth, decreasing of tax evasion, withdrawal of EU-funds financial means. Besides that, the Vice-PM Pavel Bělobrádek (responsible for Applied Research and Development) announced an increased effort in connection of industry and research.

The Government also approved the process of legislative plan outlook for 2014. The Government seeks to pass reform bills as soon as possible so that the bills could come into force in 2015.
