planes.cz: Changes in flights from Prague, Brno

In 2018, Ryanair air carrier plans to launch new directroute from Prague Airport to Amman, the capital of Jordan, planes.cz informs.

From 26 March 2018, Sichuan Airlines plan to extend the line between Chengdu and Prague to Zurich, says planes.cz. A similar strategy is applied by other Chinese airlines. For example, Hainan has its line from Beijing to Prague stretched to Belgrade or similarly Air China with destinations in Munich and Athens.

In 2017, Brno airport increased the number of checked-in passengers by more than 52,000 to more than 470,000 passengers from 418,000 passengers in 2016. Charter flights passengers account for over 50% of the total. As for regular flights, Ryanair flight to London Stansted Airport carried 108,000 passengers, followed by BMI Regional flight to Munich (19,000, up by 62% y-o-y), Wizz Air (48,000 passengers, but this airline has been downsizing its operations in the Czech Republic and operated its final flight from Brno on January 8, 2018). The South Moravian Region  would like to fill this gap by creating its own airline with Romanian Blue Air, whose Boeing 737-500 should connect Brno with Barcelona, Brussels, Kiev, Milan and Rome during the summer flight schedule. In 2017, the airport saw over 44,000 take-offs and landings and 3,700 t of cargo transported. Sources: Brno Airport  and planes.cz.
