Renewable energy sources subsidies approved

On 16 August, the Chamber of Deputies passed the Bill on Renewable Energy Sources Support. The Bill has been prepared by the interim government of Jiří Rusnok. The Bill aims at several issues. Firstly, the Bill states that power plants constructed after 1 January, 2014 should not be subsidized by the state budget. Secondly, the Bill stipulates a lower tribute for renewable energy sources that should be paid by consumers (495 CZK/MWh). That measure should relieve households and industry as financial burden will be transferred to the state budget. Thirdly, the Bill regulates administrative duties of renewable energy sources owners so that they may claim for public support (i.e. transparent ownership structure). Further, the Bill introduces a photo-voltaic energy source tribute to the state budget (10%).

The Bill is heading to the Senate.
