The New European Consumer Agenda

The European Commission introduced a new strategy on the consumer policy called The New European Agenda. This document should replace the Consumer Policy Strategy 2007-2013. A new strategy targets on the consumer safety and protection and is built upon four key objectives - it aims to increase confidence by reinforcing consumer safety, enhancing knowledge, stepping up enforcement and securing redress, aligning consumer rights and policies to changes in society and in the economy.
The main aim of the EC is to simplify system of claims and dispute resolution between consumer and trader. The EC has already proposed 16 measures for e-commerce and online services, Alternative Dispute Resolution and Online Dispute Resolution systems and from 2013 the e-Justice portal will be available for small consumer claims.
