U.S. Chamber’s Donohue Applauds Workforce Development Executive Order

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Tom Donohue issued the following statement today on President Trump’s executive order related to workforce development:

“The skills gap is one of the greatest economic challenges we face, and it’s one that the Chamber has long been committed to tackling. In today’s America, we have people without jobs and jobs without people, and when it’s difficult for businesses to find qualified candidates for the jobs they create, it becomes more and more difficult for our country to stay competitive. But we don’t have to fall behind. Generating prosperity and meaningful economic growth means setting up tools and training for our people to get a good education, get a solid job, and ultimately, get ahead.

“To that end, we applaud the president and the administration for offering solutions that bring the business community to the table. We look forward to working with them in their efforts to close the skills gap in order to build a stronger workforce for our 21st century economy.” Read more.
