Competitiveness: Czech Republic placed second among East European countries

According to the American journal Site Selection the Czech Republic placed second among East European countries on its Best to Invest ladder only to be beaten by Slovakia. Both countries defended their ranking from last year. According to the words of Ondřej Votruba entrusted with the management of CzechInvest agency, the Czech Republic didn’t perceive it as a loss but as motivation for improving domestic investment environment. He also added that they had carefully mapped the weak points of the environment and that they considered their improvement as a priority. For example also Russia and Turkey belong to the group of East European countries. Individual countries are evaluated on the basis of number of investment projects both new and also old but extended ones. CzechInvest agency contributed to these results by mediating 108 projects in total bringing CZK 48 bn to the Czech economy and creating approximately 10 500 new workplaces.
