The Calvert Journal: Prague and St Petersburg named among world’s top destinations

Prague and St Petersburg are two New East destinations competing on a world level, according to travel site TripAdvisor. The two cities recently placed in the Top 25 World Destinations contest, which forms part of the site's 2017 Travellers' Choice Awards.

The Czech capital, Prague, won ninth place, with the accompanying report highlighting the city’s historic Old Town Square and St Vitus Cathedral as must-sees for any visit.

Russia's second city, St Petersburg, came in 14th. Unsurprisingly, popular tourist destinations Church of the Saviour on Spilled Blood, along with the State Hermitage Museum and Winter Palace, featured on the list of essential excursions for visitors.

Bali and London took the two top spots on the 25 World Destinations list. The 25 winners were based on millions of reviews and opinions written by travellers from around the world.
