Czech MEPs managed to acquire quite a few important posts in EP committees leadership. When compared to similarly big countries, one can say the 8 Czech MEPs in important posts are a success. Seven of the 8 MEPs are committee vice-presidents, including in important committees such as ITRE (Industry, Research and Energy), CONT (Budgetary Control) or the SEDE (Sub-Committee on Security and Defense). Pavel Svoboda MEP (EPP, KDU-ČSL) became president of the Legal Affairs Committee, which is important due to its input in the formation of the civil law legislation and in the control of subsidiarity and proportionality principles in proposed EU legislation.
