Energy ministers hold a follow-up discussion on the 2030 climate and energy framework

On 9 December in Brussels, ministers on charge of energy held a session of the Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council in the format of Energy issues. The principal point of agenda was the follow-up political discussion on the 2030 climate and energy framework which was endorsed in October by the European Council. The ministers discussed the new governance process implementing the framework and assuring that the goals are met. The ministers expressed that the new governance must help the consistency of EU policies while being flexible-enough and not raising the administrative burden on the Member States.

The Council discussed also the internal energy market. The ministers adopted conclusions on its completion. The conclusions identify the key issues of the completion process. These include network codes, projects of common interest, interconnectors, regional market integration, cross-border cooperation and involvement of consumers.
