European inflation down in January 2013

Inflation in the EU resumed downward trend in January 2013. In January, the EU27 annual inflation rate fell from 2.3% in December 2012 to 2.1% in January 2013. Euro area inflation fell as well, from 2.2% in December 2012 to 2.0% in January 2013.

The lowest annual inflation rates were measured in Greece (0.0%), Portugal (0.4%) and in Latvia (0.6%). The highest annual inflation rates were observed in Romania (5.1%), Estonia (3.7%) and the Netherlands (3.2%).
