Innovation performance of 190 European regions compared

The Regional Innovation Scoreboard 2012 was published on 6th November 2012. Annual report classifies European regions into four innovation performance groups – modest innovators, moderate innovators, innovation followers and innovation leaders. According to results, there are 41 regions in the first group of "innovation leaders", 58 regions belong to the second group of "innovation followers", 39 regions are "moderate innovators" and 52 regions are in the fourth group of "modest innovators".

The most innovative regions can be found in Sweden, Denmark, Germany and Finland. On the contrary, the weakest regions are placed in Slovakia, Poland, Greece or Croatia. Czech Republic is one of the most diversified countries. Its regions mostly belong to moderate innovators, with some innovation followers and Prague as an innovation leader.
