Korean company CEPCO is interested in building Temelín’s next reactor

Although the Spokeswoman of ČEZ Barbora Půlpánová in her June reaction denied statement of ČEZ Supervisory Board vice-president Václav Pačes that work on future contract on building additional reactor blocks for Temelín was in progress and tender could be put out next year another competitor already expressed his will to take part. It is the Korean energy company KEPCO which has apart from building power plants in Korea already built nuclear power plant in UAE. KEPCO is thus about to join its rival Japan-American consortium Westinghouse and Toshiba and consortium of AtomStroyExport and Škoda in competition for the contract of CZK 201.8 bn. Czech government welcomes this move in terms of beneficial competition as it has also signed Mutual Comprehension Act on Cooperation in Nuclear Sector.
