The European Council met in Brussels on 18-19 October 2012 to discuss and take decisions on crucial domestic and foreign policy topics. The main focus of the meeting was on economic policy.

They reviewed the EU’s growth and job agenda called the Compact for Growth and Jobs and discussed the necessity of swift completion of the Economic and Monetary Union’s new proposals on the Single Supervisory Mechanism. They also focused on the examination of situation in Syria, Mali and Iran.
