Stricter quality control and more Czech products in markets

Minister of Agriculture Marian Jurečka announced his plan to introduce stricter and more frequent controls of proper product marking and compliance with quality norms. Minister announced these plans on a meeting with the biggest domestic trade chains. It was said that the controls would be made in cooperation of all relevant controlling authorities. Minister also said that novelization of food act would increase maximum penalties for badly marked food from 3 to 10 million Czech crowns and up to 50 million for dangerous and insanitary food. Second part of his announced plan includes promotion of Czech products. Currently share of Czech products in markets is somewhere in between 40-75 %. Unification of regional food brands is also part of the plan as Minister Jurečka hopes it would encourage consumer demand of those products.
