AmCham Checklist for Sustainable Catering

Transformation to healthy diets by 2050 will require substantial dietary shifts. Global consumption of fruits, vegetables, nuts and legumes will have to double, and consumption of foods such as red meat and sugar will have to be reduced by more than 50%. A diet rich in plant-based foods and with fewer animal source foods confers both improved health and environmental benefits.(EAT/Lancet Report).

The food industry coughs out about a quarter to one-third of all greenhouse gases mankind emits. 931 million tons of that food is wasted each year. Our meat-heavy, salt and sugar laden diet escalates our risk of major disease, as well as the costs to society and individuals of health care. That impoverishes our ability to provide quality public education, which restricts your ability to work with the talent you need to turn your best ideas into a commercial success.

Think about that next time you attend a reception with a buffet of the usual fare. Does the organization inviting you to graze away truly care about your well-being no matter how green and ESG-ified their logo and marketing pitch? Do they, so to speak, eat the talk?

Estella Schweizer and David Rejhon of The Artisan, Marriott have been educating AmCham CZ on the reasons why a sustainable diet is the sensible choice for every company.

We have put together a checklist. Contact Barbora Vítová at bvitova@amcham.cz to obtain your copy.
