Eurostat: Czech GDP per capita 15th highest in EU28 | Share of shadow economy in Czech Rep higher than 11% of GDP

Czech GDP per capita is at 85% of the EU28 level, the 15th highest in the EU28, recent Eurostat data show. The top performers in this indicator are Luxembourg (237% of EU28 average), Ireland (145%), the Netherlands (129%), Austria (127%) or Germany (125%). The share of shadow economy in the Czech Republic amounts to more than 11.25% of GDP, a study published by EY and Master Card showed. During the world economic and financial crisis, in 2008, the share of shadow economy decreased by 3 percentage points. Since 2010, the share has been on the rise again. According to data published by the Czech Statistical Office in November 2015, shadow economy made up 15 percent of Czech GDP.
