Politics: U.S. Health care law competes with Republican campaign

Before the launch of Health care program on October 1st, White House will start six-month campaign to persuade 48 millions of uninsured Americans to sign up for health coverage. Number of people enrolled is crucial for success of president Obama´s Affordable Care Act. Campaign will include presidential event this week in New York with former President Bill Clinton, speech by Obama on Thursday in Maryland. Further, Michelle Obama will urge mothers and veterans to enroll their families.

Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. will enlist nurses in the effort to spread the word. Moreover, members of the president’s cabinet will try to persuade constituent groups to sway their members into action. At the same time, Republicans are trying to prevent people from enrolling by using television advertisements, radio programs and a threat of shutting down the government and defaulting unless Congress eliminates all of the financing for the law.
